Alan D. Maurer, age 84, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Thursday evening, June 12, 2014 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
Alan was born on October 19, 1929 in Kiel. He was the son of the late Philip and Catherine Kretsh Maurer. He graduated from Kiel High School with the class of 1948. On June 30, 1956, Alan married Doris M. Manz at Kiel Reformed Church in Kiel, Wisconsin. Alan was employed with Manitowoc Engineering Company for 37 years from where he retired in 1993. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Manitowoc and was a volunteer for the Manitowoc Red Cross and Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Survivors include Alan's wife of 57 years: Doris; two sons: David (Sue) Maurer, Madison, WI; Dennis (Diana) Maurer, San Antonio, TX; one daughter: Nancy Maurer, Crivitz, WI; one brother: Philip Maurer, Kiel, WI; and two sisters: Doris Wilbert, Kiel, WI; Kathryn (Monroe) Hansmann, New Holstein, WI; two grandchildren; 1 step grandchild; three step great grandchildren; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Alan was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Kermit and Daniel Maurer; and one sister: Bernice Van de Grift.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Zachary DeArmond with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Following the funeral service, a luncheon will be held for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
