Obituary

Alice L. Gagnon, age 87, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Alice was born on February 3, 1931 in Townsend to the late William and Catherine (O'Brien) Joas. She graduated from Wabeno High School with the class of 1949. On June 3, 1950, Alice married Mark T. Gagnon at the Fundamental Bible Church in Townsend. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2014. Along with her husband, Alice owned and operated two tavern/restaurants in Manitowoc for 23 years. She was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ. Alice enjoyed playing cards, bingo, camping up north and travelling. But above all, her most cherished accomplishment was being a mother and grandmother.

Alice is survived by her five children: Yvonne (Randy) Truttschel; Diane (Dennis) Minkel; Jill (Bob) Springborg; Mark (Nancy) Gagnon; and Julie (Greg) Schaus; all of Manitowoc; an "adopted daughter": Kelly Ness; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers: William Joas and Larry Joas; loving pet dog: Chi Chi; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by parents, loving husband: Mark T. Gagnon; two sisters: Geraldine and Lulabelle; brother: Edward "Ted" Joas; and lovingly missed grandson: Mark D. Gagnon.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at First Reformed United Church of Christ, 3613 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc. Rev. Judine Duerwaechter will officiate with burial to take place the following day at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Forest Home Cemetery in Townsend. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. The family will greet relatives and friends at First Reformed United Church of Christ on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
