Obituary

Allan L. Erickson Jr., age 67, a resident of Manitowoc, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.

Born on June 15, 1956, in Manitowoc, WI, Allan was the son of the late Allan and Betty (Larson) Erickson. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1974, marking the beginning of a journey that would see him touch the lives of many in the Manitowoc community and beyond.

Allan was a familiar face to many as the owner and operator of the Fat Seagull in Manitowoc for numerous years. His dedication, hard work and yes, his meat raffle dances endeared him to the hearts of patrons, creating a place where friends became family, laughter echoed through the walls, and memories were forged.

The picturesque woods of Florence County were witness to Allan's joy during deer hunting expeditions. These annual retreats to Fay Lake Resort with his father, son, brothers, cousins, nephews, and friends became treasured moments etched in the tapestry of his life.  Thursdays held a special place in Allan's heart, as he maintained a weekly ritual of spending time with friends, creating bonds that stood the test of time. His grumpy, yet humorous demeanor was enjoyed and loved by everyone. Family was central to Allan's life, and he found immense joy in the company of his grandchildren, Anna and Finn. Watching Finn play baseball was a source of pride and happiness for Allan, as he reveled in the achievements of the next generation. His vehicle headlights from right field while Finn played will forever be shining upon his grandson. Anna and Allan bonded over their shared passion for sweets.  Their mannerisms mirrored one another, often competing for the best facial frown or look of cynicism, which made the rare smirk extra special.   Known for his enthusiasm for carpentry, Allan embarked on countless projects, each a testament to his creativity and determination. To those who knew him well, it was understood that not every project reached completion, but the passion he poured into each one left an indelible mark.

Allan is survived by his son, Jason (Emily) Erickson; grandson, Finn Erickson; granddaughter, Anna Erickson; two brothers, Jim (Marge) Erickson and David (Judy) Erickson; sister, Dawn (Mike) Krause; also other relatives and friends.
