Alveria R. Wachholz, age 91, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Azura Memory Care in Manitowoc.
Alveria was born on November 17, 1924 in Port Washington, WI. She was the daughter of the late John and Isabelle Watry Schmit. Alveria was a graduate of Kiel High School with the class of 1942. She was employed as a payroll clerk with Weyerhauser Corporation in Manitowoc. On May 11, 1946 she married Russell L. Wachholz at St Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2015. She worked alongside her husband establishing a television sales and repair business. Alveria was a bookkeeper extraordinaire, minding the store while her husband went on repair calls. Her natural business acumen and keen organization enabled her to seamlessly integrate running the business while raising four daughters. She had immense pride and was the driving force behind their nursing careers. Alveria was an early feminist, who was generous, bright, faithful, kind and loved life and all it offered. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and had volunteered her time at the former St. Mary's Catholic Church office for many years and also taught CCD classes at the church.
She is survived by four daughters: Mary Ellen (Michael) Alsvig, Two Rivers; Nancy (Thomas) Krueger, Waukesha; Karen (David) Householder, Mautson; and Lori Jean Mettetal, Two Rivers; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister: Rosemary Holschbach, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Margie Schmit, Francis Creek; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Isabelle Schmit; husband: Russell Wachholz; one sister: Norma Krcma; one brother: Raymond Schmit.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Marshall, 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Marshall on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Following the memorial service there will be a luncheon for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
