Arleen S. (Leifer) Besaw, age 78, a Manitowoc resident, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at St. Mary's at Felician Village.
Arleen was born on October 12, 1932 in Marshfield, WI to the late Paul and Adela Fredrick Stargardt. She graduated from Marshfield High School and then went on to become an accredited medical transcriptionist. On December 30, 1984, Arleen married Greg Besaw in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2003. Arleen was employed at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center and at the former St. Mary's Nursing Home doing transcription and medical records. Arleen enjoyed reading, bowling, and camping. She was an active member of the former Manitowoc Jaycettes where she held various officer positions and also the Eagle's Auxiliary 706. Arleen was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc.
Survivors include her four children: Jeff (Ann) Leifer, Manitowoc; Randy (Karen) Leifer, Manitowoc; Pam Leifer, Slinger; and Karen Drossart, Green Bay; three step children: Sherryl (Leonard) Meyers, St. Nazianz; Susan (Dave) Reilly, Manitowoc; Sandy Besaw, Manitowoc; 18 grandchildren: Kirsten, Katrina, Karissa, Joel, Rachel, Paul, Rebekah, Nathan, Crystal, Laura, Robert, Marissa, Mitchell, Matthew, Mason, Jordan, Travis, and Cassie; nine great grandchildren; two brothers: Gordon (Betty) Stargardt and Floyd (Hazel) Stargardt, all of Marshfield; one sister-in-law: Joann Stargardt, Marshfield; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Arleen was preceded in death by the father of her children, Lee D. Leifer; one brother, Paul Stargardt; one sister, Jean Stargardt; and one son-in-law: Dean Drossart.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc on Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 9 am until the time of the memorial service at 11 am. The Rev. W. Loescher from Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate.
