Arlene C. Knauer, age 97, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Artisan Senior Living in Manitowoc.

Arlene was born on May 22, 1918 in Kossuth to the late Louis and Catherine Baumgart Steeber. She graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers and later graduated from the University of Las Americas in Puebla, Mexico in 1981 where she received her Masters Degree in Education. On October 11, 1941, Arlene married Edgar "Micky" M. Knauer at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Two Rivers. He preceded her in death January 12, 1994. Arlene was employed as a teacher in the Milwaukee School District and retired in 1993. She had travelled extensively throughout the world. Arlene was a member of Mensa, Manitowoc Senior Center, Two Rivers Senior Center, and St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Survivors include Arlene's five children: Karmen (Dale) Meissner, Two Rivers; Gail (David) Powell, Manitowoc; Kris Bangart, New Holstein; Michael (Kristy) Knauer, Manitowoc; and Polly (Tony) Kraemer, Manitowoc; 11 grandchildren: Mitchell (Deborah) Meissner, Marc Meissner and his fiancé Becky Basler, Vicki Wetenkamp, David Wetenkamp, Larry Wetenkamp, Brian (Karrie) Monczunski, Jesse (Kim) Weichart, Ross (Tanya) Bangart, Renae (Troy) Luchterhand, Robert Knauer, and Ryan Kraemer; 12 great grandchildren; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband: Edgar; daughter: Kathleen; three sisters: Marie, Lillian, and Lucille; and brother: Alloious.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Rev. Dave Pleier will officiate with entombment of Arlene's cremated remains to take place at Calvary Mausoleum. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 12 from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Following the service, a luncheon will be held for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
