Arlene E. Schreiber, age 76, a resident of Manitowoc Rapids, entered eternal life following a courageous battle with mesothelioma on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Arlene was born on June 10, 1942 in Cooperstown to the late Erwin and Alma Gauger Wendt. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Maribel. Arlene graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1960. On July 23, 1960, Arlene married Stephen E. Schreiber in Denmark. For many years, Arlene had worked on the family farm. She enjoyed spending her time shooting pool, playing dart ball, and above all, being with her family and friends – especially babysitting for her great grandchildren. Arlene was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Liberty.
Survivors include Arlene's husband of nearly 58 years, Steve; four children, Denise (Kerry) Krueger, Manitowoc; Kevin (Sheri) Schreiber, Manitowoc; Susan (Chris) Koenig, West Bend; and Kristen (Glenn) Kappelman, Newton; eight grandchildren, Cory (Kim) Krueger, Rachelle (Joe) Bessert, Michael (Melinda) Schreiber, Matthew (Rachael) Schreiber, Miles Schreiber, Craig Koenig, Samantha Koenig, and Daniel Kappelman; 11 great grandchildren and two more on the way; sister, Lori Herzog, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law, Carol (George) Krepline, Hilbert; and Judy Havel, Two Rivers; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Alma Wendt; brother, Harry Wendt; sister, Dorothy Luebke; two brothers-in-law, Stanley and William Schreiber; and five sisters-in-law, Janet Wendt, Dolores Blashka, Patricia, Mary, and Maryann Schreiber.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 11303 Wehausen Road, Town of Liberty in Manitowoc County. Rev. Gregory Pope will officiate with burial to follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and then on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11 th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
