Obituary

Arthur J. Bursek, age 93, formerly of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Appletree Assisted Living in Colorado Springs, CO.

Art was born on October 20, 1921 in Manitowoc to the late John and Pauline Hoverson Bursek. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1941. On June 7, 1943, Art married Florence Schultz at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on October 17, 2011. Art served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 with the 95th Infantry and was active in the European Theatre, including the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge. Art loved cars, old movies, westerns, sitcoms, baseball and game shows. He loved chocolate, especially M & Ms and he loved dogs. Art was a member St. Francis of Assisi Parish, V.F.W. Otto Oas Post 659, and a former member of the Manitowoc Senior Center.

Survivors include Art's daughter: Lynn (Fred) Reese, Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren: Ursula Reese and DeRon Reese; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Art was preceded in death by his wife: Florence; infant son: James Bursek; daughter: Lori Bursek; and brother: Lloyd.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Michael Warden with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum. Military rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post 659. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. A prayer service will be led by Deacon Alan Boeldt at 7 p.m. to conclude the visitation. The visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
