Audrey F. Schmitz, age 85, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022 in Manitowoc.

She was born October 15, 1936 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Edward H. and Marion (Kohlbeck) Lenz. Audrey attended Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1955. On September 28, 1957, she married Elmer J. Schmitz. She was employed with the City of Manitowoc for most of her career, retiring as Deputy City Treasurer in 1991. Audrey enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, crafts, cooking, and baking.  Above all, her greatest joy was being a wife, mom, grandma and great grandma.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years: Elmer Schmitz; two daughters: Robin (Dan) Kohlman and Renee (Mike) Kautzer; one daughter-in-law: JoLynn Schmitz; five grandchildren: Christopher Kohlman, Kimberly (Andrew) Magyar, Kate Kohlman (Cory Rushford), Hunter Schmitz, and Rikki Schmitz; and three great-grandsons: Roman, Arwin, and Viggo Magyar. She is further survived by a son and his family, a sister, and a brother. She was preceded in death by her son: Randall J. Schmitz; her parents: Edward and Marion Lenz; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: John and Clara Schmitz; and five sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law.

In respect with the family's wishes, private memorial services were held at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with Deacon Alan Boeldt officiating.  Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory with burial of Audrey's cremated remains at Calvary Cemetery.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
