Aurelia Kosarzycki entered her Heavenly home on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the age of 76. She slipped away from the arms of her loving family in Manitowoc and awoke in the arms of our loving God.
Aurelia is now reunited with her husband, Fabian. She was the treasured mother of Richard and Tania Kosarzycki of Manitowoc, WI; Diane Kosarzycki and Scott Wilson of Milwaukee, WI; Juliet Kosarzycki of Manitowoc, and the proud grandmother of Sierra, Devin and Zeno.
Anyone who has ever stepped into the Kosarzycki home was greeted by the warmth of Aurelia's smile and the savory smells of a traditional Polish meal cooking in the oven. She loved to entertain and bake glorious rich desserts. There was always a reason for a celebration and Aurelia especially loved the holidays. One of her most endearing qualities was the gift of bringing people together to share a feast with her family. Food was always the main focus of every event, even if it was just friends sitting around the kitchen table chatting.
Aurelia was a woman who was very proud of her Polish heritage. Her home was filled with many beautifully crafted artistic pieces that she collected from her trips back to Poland. Aurelia has many family members that still reside in Poland and loved them all deeply. Even after living in the United States for over 50 years, her love for the motherland was evident in every aspect of her life and her children's lives. She enthusiastically shared her ethnic heritage with everyone that entered her life.
Some of her greatest pleasures included maintaining a beautiful garden, keeping a meticulously clean home, displaying items in her "museum," being a member of the Red Hats, volunteering with many different organizations, and hunting for the perfect bargain. But nothing compared to the importance of family and surrounding herself with compassionate friends that she cared about.
She was the loving sister of Czeslawa Daszkiewicz, Poland, Janina Weber, Manitowoc, and Henryk Gruszcynski, Poland. She was preceded in death by her sisters Teresa Gruszcynska and Alfreda Ligocka, Poland, and her parents Jan and Cecylia (Gibowska) Gruszcynski, Poland.
Aurelia was born to this world October 8, 1934 in the country of Poland. She came to the United States in 1960 and married Fabian on October 28, 1961. She was a dedicated member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Visitation and the celebration of her life for relatives and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 N Water St., Manitowoc WI. The prayer service will begin at 7 pm followed by a sharing of favorite memories and stories.
The visitation will continue on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 9 am until the time of the morning blessing at 10:30 am at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 1114 S. 21st St. Manitowoc officiated by Fr. Dan Felton.
A special thank you to the staff at Care Partners Assisted Living for their love and care for Aurelia.
