Barbara E. Vassilew, age 53, of 1701 Revere Drive, Manitowoc, entered eternal life Friday afternoon, February 3, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Barbara was born on December 8, 1958 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Lois Houghton Maples. She received her education through the Manitowoc Public School system. Barbara was a very devoted wife and mother and was an active caregiver for many people and was employed at the Walnut Grove assisted living facility in Manitowoc. On January 20, 1979 she married George Vassilew at St. John's United Church of Christ, Manitowoc. Barbara loved camping, spending time outdoors and baking in her kitchen.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years: George; one daughter: Desirae Vassilew and her fiancé Aaron Bailey, Manitowoc, WI; Jacob Vassilew and his fiancé Monica McKenzie, Manitowoc, WI; one sister: Pamela (Tim) Kaufman, Manitowoc, WI; four grandchildren: Marcus, Amara, Julien and Onyx; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Daniel and Lois Maples.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Cremation will have taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00.
