Bette M. Janssen, age 88, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Bette was born on January 14, 1925 in Rome, NY to the late George and Myrtle Killingbeck Wakefield. After completing her education in Rome, NY, Bette obtained her technical degree from Lane Bryman School of Nursing in Phoenix, AZ as a Medical Assistant. She was employed in the medical field throughout her life. In March 31, 1951, Bette married Marvin Janssen in Tijuana, Mexico. Marvin preceded her in death on October 30, 1989.
Survivors include five children: Marie Kraetsch, Manitowoc; Doug (Sharon) Janssen, Fond du Lac; Jan (Linda) Janssen, Seymour; Tamie (Phil) Hargrove, Great Falls, MT; and Toni Akers, Glasgow, KY; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; also other relatives and friends. Bette was preceded in death by her son, Bill; and great granddaughter, Alivian.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Rev. Joe Boyle will officiate with burial of Bette's cremated remains to take place at Central Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in King at a later date. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Following the memorial service, a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
