Betty Petska, age 97, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life with family by her side on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
Betty was born on August 3, 1927 in King's Lynn, Norfolk, England to the late Raymond and Kathleen (Hipkin) Boldero. She met Victor while he was serving in England during World War II. After the war ended, Betty sailed to the United States to meet Victor arriving on June 19, 1946. They were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville on July 9, 1946. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1977. She had worked as a Nursing Assistant at Park Lawn Nursing Home for many years. Betty was an avid knitter and her greatest love was knitting a pair of booties for each family member every Christmas. She enjoyed her friendships with the English War Brides Club, and above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends – especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include Betty's four children, David (Gloria) Petska, Ocala, FL; Robert (Sue) Petska, Sheboygan; LuAnn (Bill) Christianson, Duxbury, MA; and Deb (Dave) Heise, Manitowoc; nine grandchildren, Dionne (Tom) Maedke, Kris Petska, Elizabeth (Eric) Wergin, Jenny (Andy) Balster, Bryan (Erin) Petska, Rachel (David) Dewane, Kimberly (Greg) Amos, Spencer (Desiree) Heise, and Kyle (Jessica) Christianson; two step-granddaughters, Marisha (Jon) Hill and Ariana (Mychal) Fowlds; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Judy Petska and Joy Boldero; the mother of David's children, Connie Petska; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Tillie Petska; husband, Victor; brother, John Boldero; sister, Jean (Michael) Brading; two granddaughters, Alyssa Petska and Marie Petska; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Helen (Ray) Naidl, Harvey (Clara) Petska, and Joseph Petska.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Matthew Colle with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Following the funeral service, a luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
