Obituary

William "Bill" McEwan Wallace, age 64, a Manitowoc resident, entered into eternal life on Friday, September 23, 2011 at St. Mary's Home at Felician Village.

Bill was born on June 8, 1947 in Oak Park, IL to the late William and Vivian Wallace. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1965. Bill then went on to study music education at UW Stevens Point. On June 24, 1973, Bill married Barbara Krouse at their home in Manitowoc in an outdoor ceremony. Bill had owned and operated Custer Street Towing & Repair – formerly known as Custer Street Shell. In 1989, Bill added U-Save Auto Rental. He was proud to have operated the business with the help of his wife and children for many of the 42 years of ownership. Bill will always be remembered for his willingness to go the extra mile. He enjoyed being outdoors, socializing with his friends, performing and listening to music, being behind the wheel of his truck on long distance service calls, and above all the time he was able to spend with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Barbara; three children: Chris Wallace, Manitowoc; Brian Wallace, Wausau; and Heidi (Terry) Dabb, Manitowoc; three grandchildren: SageWallace, Sayde Tribolini, and Frances Dabb; one step granddaughter: Jennifer Dabb; one sister: Gloria Wallace, Manitowoc; two brothers: Stuart (Kyle) Wallace, Sarasota, FL; Edward (Linda) Wallace, Manitowoc; mother-in-law: Lorraine Krouse, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law: Sandy (Jim) Rogness, Sturgeon Bay; Barbara Krouse, Green Bay; his loyal companion: LeMutt; nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents: William and Vivian Wallace; and one brother-in-law: Roger Krouse.

The Rev. Roald Harswick will officiate a memorial service which will be held at First Lutheran Church, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 1 PM. Following the memorial service, there will be a visitation held at the church.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Bill's family would like to thank Dr. Lynn Baatz, Dr. James Leenstra, all of the staffs at Holy Family Cancer Care Center and St. Mary's Next Step Rehabilitation Center, and also to the family and friends for all of their care and support. Also a thank you to the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home for allowing us to use a tow truck to escort Bill back to his business for a last goodbye and then on to the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Bill's name.
