Obituary

Brenda L. Miller, age 47, a breast cancer survivor, resident of Plymouth, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.

Brenda was born on November 14, 1962 in Manitowoc to Walter and Eunice Klein Barnes. She had attended school in Valders. Brenda was the co-founder of both the Viking Pizzeria in Denmark and Turn of the Century Travel Agency in Irving, TX. She had also worked as a manager of Fox Hills Resort in Mishicot. Brenda went on to use her previous business experience to aid in the rescue and relief efforts of Kosovo refugees. She was personally responsible for lobbying to the US Embassy to bring 6 displaced Kosovo families to the United States, and when successful, took care of them by providing them with everything from education, clothes, jobs, housing, and medical needs. Brenda was an avid animal lover (especially for her horses and cats), loved music, cooking for family and friends, but above all cherished the time she was able to spend with her family, friends, and the displaced families for which she cared.

Survivors include her fiancé, David Vreeke, Plymouth; 2 children: Tara (Joshua)
Campbell, Deland, FL; and Nicholas Hibbard, Green Bay; one granddaughter: Deanna Lea Campbell; mother: Eunice Barnes, Valders; one brother Gary Barnes and his fiancé Amy Olson, Manitowoc; one sister: Kay (Gary) Waskow, Manitowoc; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Brenda was preceded in death by her father: Walter Barnes; a special relative and comforter in Sonia Shedlosky-Klein; also the draft horse she raised, Blaze; and her favorite cat: Teenie Weenie.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc from 4 pm until 8 pm. The visitation will continue at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 am until the beginning of the funeral service at 11 am. Rev. Gregory Pope will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request any memorial to be made to the Manitowoc Humane Society or the American Breast Cancer Association.
