Carl John Kuehn, age 91, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Carl was born on October 23, 1926 in Sheboygan to the late Carl A. and Viola (Grube) Kuehn. He graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan. Carl then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944. He served on the Destroyer Escort U.S.S. Alvin C. Cockrell in the Pacific Theatre during World War II until his honorable discharge in 1947. Upon his return, Carl attended classes at Milwaukee School of Engineering. On November 22, 1947, Carl married Elaine Kuenne in Sheboygan. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2017. He had worked at F.M.C.Bolens in Port Washington until his retirement at age 60. After retiring, Carl and his wife moved to Mesa, AZ for the following 27 years and then moved back to Manitowoc in January 2016. He enjoyed square dancing, bow hunting, fishing, and was a member of Whitetail Bow Hunting Club in Johnsonville. Carl enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends, and cherished the opportunity of getting to know his great granddaughters.
Survivors include Carl's son, Carl (Lisa) Kuehn, Manitowoc; four grandchildren, Chad (Theresa) Kuehn, Michelle (Aaron) Nelson, Melissa Kimbro, and Kimberly (Nicholas) Davis; four step grandchildren, Jordan (Kimberly ) Shimon, Melissa (William) Tennant, Benjamin Shimon, and Alex Shimon; five great grandchildren, Kylee and Karis Nelson, Jade and Scarlett Kimbro, and Alice Shimon; along with other relatives and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl A. and Viola Kuehn; wife, Elaine; sister, Joyce (Jim) Fleigle; and grandson-in-law, Joseph Kimbro.
A Life Celebration Social will be held for relatives and friends on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
