Obituary

Carl "Chuck" William Schwarz, aged 66 of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, November 20, 2017 at his residence.
Chuck was born on August 28, 1951 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, son of Jacqueline Nickels Schwarz and the late Bernard E. Schwarz. Chuck attended First German Evangelical Lutheran School and graduated from Manitowoc Lutheran High School in 1969. He then went on to graduate with a Business and Marketing degree from Spencerian College in Milwaukee. Chuck worked for a time building boats with his father and grandfather at Schwarz Marine Co. and then became employed as a package car driver for UPS until his retirement in 2008. He was inducted into the Wisconsin UPS Circle of Honor after 25 years of Safe Driving-No Accidents. On July 14, 1973 he married Ginger Meyers at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, where he was a lifelong member.
Chuck enjoyed refereeing basketball, playing golf, and helping others. He was a basketball referee for many years and an active member of the Manitowoc County Sports Officials Association. He was also a member of the Manitowoc County Lakes Association, specifically helping to maintain Silver Lake Park. Chuck dedicated his retirement to helping others.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 44 years: Ginger; his mother and step-father: Jacqueline and John Sosnosky, Two Rivers; three children: Nicole Tobie of Madison, Christopher (Katie) Schwarz of Viroqua, and Rachel Schwarz of Madison; eight grandchildren: Halie Peplinski, Maxwell, Hope, and Isobel Tobie, Noah, Madelyn, Liam, and Jaxon Schwarz; three brothers: John Schwarz of Two Rivers, Michael (Rebecca) Schwarz of Manitowoc, and Richard (Laura) Schwarz of Manitowoc; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Pat and Russ Schwalbe, Oshkosh, and Duane and Denay Oyen, Eau Claire; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father: Bernard Schwarz; a grandson: Noah Peplinski; and his sister-in-law: Lynne Oyen.
Memorial services will be held 11 am Saturday, November 25, 2017 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Christopher Hoppe and Rev. Benjamin Schaefer with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 4 pm to 7 pm and on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church from 10 am until the time of services at 11 am. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
The family requests memorials to be made in Chuck's name to the 1969 scholarship fund at Manitowoc Lutheran High School or to First German Evangelical Lutheran Church or School.
