Carole B. Smith, age 88, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at her residence.

Carole was born on January 28, 1934 in Kenosha, to the daughter of the late Carl and Emma (Gurgel) Kluender.  She was confirmed in Milwaukee in 1947 at St. Lucas Lutheran Church.  Carole graduated in 1952 from Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha.  On July 2, 1960 she married Neil Jerome Smith at Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church in Kenosha.  She was active in many church organizations.  She worked at Chrysler Corporation from 1952 to 1962, then had various other jobs.  In 1990 she moved to Manitowoc where she became a member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one niece, Mary Kay Uhlich, two nephews, Kurt Uhlich and Terry Kluender.  Carole was preceded in death by her husband Neil Smith, parents, Carl and Emma Kluender, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Malvern and Vera Smith, one sister, Hazel Uhlich, one brother, Victor Kluender, one daughter in infancy, Cindy Lou Smith, and one niece Kay Susan Uhlich.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 South 8 ^th Street, Manitowoc.  Officiating will be Rev. David Laabs.  Burial will take place at Greenridge Cemetery in Kenosha at a later date.  Relatives and friends may call at First German Ev. Lutheran Church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11 ^th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
