Obituary

Catherine "Kay" L. Hornung, age 95, a resident of Manitowoc, passed away on Thursday, Feb 12, 2015, at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers following a brief illness.

Kay was born on August 24, 1919, in Highland Park, MI to the late Roy Woodworth and Catherine "Kit" O'Leary. After graduating from Highland Park High School, Detroit, MI with the class of 1937, she worked as the executive assistant to the President of Thompson Machine in Detroit. Kay married Eldred "Jim" Hornung on June 18, 1949 in Highland Park, MI. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1998. They moved to Manitowoc in 1969. Kay worked in the office at Radandt Sons until her retirement. She was an avid bridge player. Kay enjoyed being a member of The Felician Village community where she had many friends. She was very dedicated to her family and friends. Kay was a long time member of St. James Episcopal Church and the church's St. Faith's Guild where she assisted with many events.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Christopher and Diane Hornung, Madison; and Daniel Hornung and Anne Schuette, Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Ryan Hornung, Denver CO and Megan Hornung, Madison; also nieces, nephews and other relatives. Kay was preceded in death by her brother and sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2015 at St. James Episcopal Church, 434 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Diane Murray will officiate with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Following the funeral service, a reception will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to either St. James Episcopal Church or Felician Village.

Kay's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staffs of The Felician Village and Aurora Medical Center for their compassionate care.
