May 24, 1936 – January 16, 2023
Charles K. Peronto, age 86, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, January 16, 2023 at his residence.
Chuck was born on May 24, 1936 in Manitowoc to the late Roy and Alice (Krainik) Peronto. After graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1954, he went on to graduate from DeVry Technical Institute of Chicago with a degree in electronics. In November of 1961, Charles married Gloria Wallace in Manitowoc. After separating, they remained friends. She preceded him in death in August of 2022. Chuck enlisted in the United States Army National Guard in 1958. He served in the 32 nd Red Arrow Division of the 127 th Infantry until his honorable discharge in 1964. Chuck had worked for 30 years at Rahr's Furniture in the electronics service department. He then worked for Sigman's Curtain Shop until his time of retirement. Chuck had a love of music throughout his entire life. He played the tuba starting in junior high school. For over 60 years, Chuck played with the Manitowoc Marine Band.
Survivors include Chuck's daughter, Nancy (Bryan) Boprey, Manitowoc; daughter-in-law, Janice Peronto, Manitowoc; three grandchildren, Travis (Nicole) Boprey, Brandon (Danielle) Boprey, and Megan Daniels; three great grandchildren, Ariella, Emerik, and Ophelia; special friend, Elizabeth Edwards; also other relatives, neighbors, and friends. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Alice Peronto; sister, Mary Peronto; son, Michael Peronto; grandson, Matthew Peronto; and ex-wife, Gloria Wallace.
In respect with the family's wishes, private family services were held at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Rev. Dr. Matthew Sauer officiated with burial taken place at Evergreen Cemetery. Military rites were accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11 th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
