Chaya Kaplan-Schoenberg, age 56, of 828 Lincoln Boulevard, Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the family residence.

Chaya was born June 28, 1959 in North Aurora, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Arlene Martinson. Chaya was employed at the downtown federal building in Chicago for Medicare and Medicaid. Chaya was an advocate for representing the people who didn't have a voice. She was passionate about making a difference. Chaya cared deeply for the people she represented. She also had several consulting positions with primary care hospitals in Seattle, Washington.

Chaya is survived by her loving husband of 15 years: Matt, best friend and soul mate. She made family of her friends, a many and diverse group spanning from Chicago suburbs to western Washington to our brief time here in Manitowoc locating their dream house on Lincoln Boulevard. Chaya enjoyed decorating and restoring their home, gardening and sitting on the front porch relaxing.

Chaya is a Hebrew word meaning "life". Please celebrate hers and cherish the good times and fond memories shared. She had a unique personality that could light up a room with her smile and intoxicating laughter. To her friends she was a giving person with a big heart. Chaya was a lover of animals. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials to the Manitowoc Police K-9 program where Chaya was a volunteer. There will be a visitation for relatives and friends on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
