Obituary

Christine Ann "Tina" Johnson, a lifelong resident of Two Rivers, WI, passed away at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls, WI, on Thursday, February 16, 2017.

Tina was born on July 7, 1952 in Two Rivers to the late Clarence Francis and Leona Josephine (Pekulik) Schepper. She attended St. Luke's Catholic School from first through eighth grade and graduated from Washington High School in 1970. Following graduation she attended Patricia Stevens Career College and Finishing School in Milwaukee, WI and earned her Associates Degree from Northwest Technical College.

She worked several years at Mirro, Prange's, and retired from the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department in 2011. She also worked for home health care institutions in Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties, during which time she cared for in-need children and families. During this time, her kindness and generosity prompted her to provide, at her own expense, necessities not otherwise available to those she cared for. Throughout her diverse careers she developed everlasting friendships.

In 1974, she began dating her soul mate, James Daniel "Jim" Johnson, III of Two Rivers, WI, marrying him in 1975. Four years later, they were graced with identical twin daughters, Anna and Elizabeth "Libby." The family attended St. Luke's Catholic Church and are now attend St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church.

During her time on Earth, Tina surrounded herself with friends and family, always gathering them together at her home for celebrations. A lover of freedom and patriotism, her favorite time to celebrate was the Fourth of July. Tina also had a zest for joviality, including driving around town with a Chucky doll on Halloween with her sister-in-law, Reyne "Frank" Schepper.

Tina was a long-time member of a small card club with great friends. She was also a member of the National Rifle Association. She spent much time at the shooting range with her husband celebrating her love for her country, for the 2nd Amendment and for freedom for all.

She was an adoring mother and grandmother. She never missed a recital or sporting event in which her children were participating. After retirement, she loved hosting her out-of-state children and grandchildren for the summer. She also loved her nieces and nephews and their children as her own. They knew they could always expect a card (with at least a $2 bill!) from their Aunt Tina on their birthday.

Unfortunately, her life was cut short by a late-diagnosis of a rare cancer, high-grade Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) signet ring cell carcinoma. Tina was grateful for the exceptional care and compassion she received at both Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, WI and at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

Tina is survived by her husband Jim, daughters Anna (Nathan Virdell) of San Antonio, TX; Libby (Martin Vargas) of Boulder City, NV; their grandchildren, Davis, Mitchell and Shane Virdell; Julian, Sophie and her step-granddaughter Angelica Vargas and Angelica's fiancé, Brandon Myers. Survivors also include four of her five brothers: Kenneth (Charlene) Schepper of Fond du Lac, WI; Mrs. Thomas (Shirley) Schepper; James (Reyne) Schepper of Two Rivers, WI; Joseph (Linda) Schepper of Two Rivers, WI; Robert (Barb) Schepper of St. Germain, WI; her sisters-in-law, Mary Beth Johnson (John O'Neill) of Madison, WI and Suzanne (Tim) Ulrich of Cedar City, UT. Many nieces, nephews and their children survive her as well.

Besides her parents, Tina was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Clarence "Tom" Schepper of Two Rivers, WI.

The funeral service, officiated by Father Tom Reynebeau, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers, WI. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. the same day at the church. White and bright attire is requested.

Family and friends are invited to Tina's Celebration of Life at the Lighthouse Inn in Two Rivers, WI, following the service. It was Tina's wish to host one last party.
