Claudia "Corky" (Hanes) Gordon, age 69, a resident of Two Rivers, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Corky was born on August 26, 1953 in Two Rivers to the late Claude and Leona (Birr) Hanes. She attended St. John's Grade School and Washington High School in Two Rivers. On May 11, 2002, Corky married Dale Gordon at Pine Crest Historical Village. She loved playing computer games, painting, reading, crocheting, cooking (she made great cheesecakes!), watching classic movies, and was a huge Packer and Badger football fan. After marrying Dale, they enjoyed travelling and took road trips to over 17 states. Corky felt that the world was a better place with cats, especially hers, Calli and Bella. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include Corky's husband, Dale Gordon; son, Shane DeGrand and his significant other, Stacey Behnke; daughter, Heather (Christopher) Shimek; four grandchildren, Quinn DeGrand, Hope DeGrand, Domonique "DJ" Sleger, and Zander DeGrand; four great grandchildren, Ariana, Emani, Atreus and Leon; three sisters, Judy Gretz, Linda (James) Sand, and Gloria Duenkel; two brothers, Floyd Hanes and Russell (Susan) Hanes; two brothers-in-law, Malcolm Peroutka and Steve (Julie) Gordon; sister-in-law, Donna (Gordon) Reilly; her beloved cat, Calli; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Corky was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Leona Hanes; sister, Kay Peroutka; three brothers-in-law, Hilary Gretz, Tom Duenkel, and David Gordon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Rose Gordon; and beloved cat, Bella.
A celebration of Corky's life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with inurnment of Corky's cremated remains to be held at Knollwood Mausoleum.
