Connie (nee Hetue) Murray, age 62, a resident of 2230 Meadowbrook Court, Oshkosh, formerly of Manitowoc, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at her home.
Connie was born on April 17, 1949 in Algoma to the late LeRoy and Erma Grenier Hetue. She attended Lincoln High School and then went on to obtain her masters degree in guidance and counseling from UW Stout. On December 21, 1966, Connie married Michael Murray in Manitowoc. She was employed as a program manager for Lutheran Social Services in Milwaukee, the unit chief at the Wisconsin Resource Center in Oshkosh, and then was the unit director of adolescent services at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute in Oshkosh until her retirement in 1999. Connie was an avid Brett Favre and Green Bay Packer fan, a voracious reader, enjoyed bingo, playing sheepshead, being outdoors (with indoor plumbing), volunteering for the Red Cross, and above all she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and friends.
Survivors include Connie's husband of 44 years, Michael; two daughters: Colleen Waller and Michelle (Ken) Donicht, both of Oshkosh; six grandchildren: Dana, Michael, Christina, Alexa, Taya, and Tyler; one great granddaughter: Allison; two special foster children: Truc Ly Thi and Elizabeth Angel; four sisters: Darlene (Sonny) Steffen, Manitowoc; Laurie (Joe) Adelman, Manitowoc; Linda (Jim) Martin, Dallas, TX; and Renee (David) Milner, Chattanooga, TN; two brothers: Donald (Sandy) Hetue, Manitowoc and Gregg (Connie) Hetue, Green Bay; four sisters-in-law: Gerlinde Hetue, Tampa, FL; Peggy Radey, Marcie Bierman, and Marie Mabrey, all of Manitowoc; three brothers-in-law: Mack Murray, Mace Murray, and Matthew Murray, all of Manitowoc; two special friends: Rosa French and Julie Granberg; also nieces, nephews, the father of Taya and Tyler: Jim Shilobrit; other relatives and friends. Connie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Doug Hetue and Jerry Hetue.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc on Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 2 pm until 4 pm. A Celebration of Connie's life will be held by her family and friends at 4 pm. Cremation will follow at a later date at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
