Dale "Jack" Fischer, age 79, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life after losing his battle with mesothelioma on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 with his family by his side at St. Mary's Home at Felician Village in Manitowoc.
Dale was born on October 8, 1936 in Chilton. He was the son of the late Archie and Margaret Lehman Fischer. After attending the Manitowoc School System, Dale enlisted with the United States Navy. He served with the Pacific Auxiliary Fleet on a fleet oiler until his release from active duty in 1957 and was honorable discharged in 1961. On August 9, 1958, Dale married Joan M. Messman in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2015. Dale retired as Chief Engineer on Great Lakes and Inland River vessels in 1994. He volunteered at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum.
He is survived by two daughters: Cynthia (Mark) Rosolek, Milwaukee; and Terri Fischer and her significant other, Steve Rutt, Mukwonago; also other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Archie and Margaret Fischer; and his wife: Joan.
A Life Celebration Social for relatives and friends will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Entombment of his cremains will be in the Harmony Haven Columbarium at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.
