Daniel O. Braasch, age 69, resident of Newton, entered into eternal life while surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.

Dan was born on March 12, 1942 in Manitowoc to the late Ulrich and Lorretta Holschuh Braasch. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1961. Dan then enlisted with the United States Navy where he served as a boiler tender until his honorable discharged in 1965. On February 24, 1968, Dan married Elaine Slater at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Liberty. He worked as a metal fabricator at Burger Boat and then as a machinist at Tecumseh until his retirement in 1997. Dan loved his family and grandchildren. He was a member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years: Elaine; two sons: Jerry Braasch, Black Creek; and David (Tatiana) Braasch, Manitowoc; six grandchildren: Joshua Neff-Miller, Terry Braasch, Lani Braasch, Kathrine Braasch, Danielle Braasch, and Michael Braasch; two brothers: Leroy (Cathy) Braasch, Ladysmith, NE and Ronald (Bonnie) Braasch, Rochester, MN; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, August 8, 2011 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc from 10 am until the time of the memorial service at 11 am. The Rev. Benjamin Schaefer will officiate.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
