Obituary

Danny Joe Seal, a longtime resident of Manitowoc, WI, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 19, 2023 at the age of 60.

Danny was born on February 25, 1962 in Elkhart, Indiana to the late Kenneth and Lucile (Ward) Seal, making Danny the youngest of six children. Growing up Danny loved fishing, but his love for fishing also caused him to get into some trouble. This is mainly because often times he would sneak down to the Manitowoc River when he should have been in school. The most memorable fishing story that was told throughout the years was when Danny snuck down to the river during the school day. On that particular day, Danny ended up falling into the river. He could not swim, so when a fisherman noticed Danny in the water struggling, he jumped in and brought him to shore. The events of Danny's fishing adventures that day ended up making it on the local news. That is how his mother found out he was sneaking out of school to go fishing. This story was also memorable for the family because years later, the son of the man that pulled Danny from the river that day ended up marrying his oldest daughter Amanda. Through the years, down at the river was still the place you could often find Danny.

As he grew older he developed a love for classic cars. He would spend hours making sure they were running just right, then several more hours detailing them. When bad weather was in the forecast, you could find Danny waiting out the storm at the nearest car wash, parked in one of the bays watching the storm move through. Like his cars, Danny also took great pride in his yard, and was known to keep a well-groomed and perfect lawn.

Danny enjoyed spending time with family whether it was sitting around a bonfire listening to oldies or working with his brothers Jim and Jody fixing up mobile homes and working on projects in the yard. He had a special bond with his two oldest nieces, Tracy and Tammy. They spent a lot of nights growing up eating Red Baron Pizzas on the front porch talking about anything and everything. Danny had amazing friends throughout the years and it didn't matter if he knew them for 10 minutes or 10 years, if they needed help he would be there.

Danny is survived by his wife of 37 years: Terry; three daughters: Amanda (Dan) Spencer, Jessica Bashaw (special friend Shelby), and Jessica Schuh; and one great-nephew who Danny loved like a son: Dustin (Dezi); beloved grandchildren: Oceanna, Alexis (Taylor), Daniel Jr. (Brittany), Owen (Cassidy), Kiara, Damien, Matayia, Hannah, Madison, Austin, Brianna, Adrianna, Aleah, Armani, and Braylon; great-grandchildren: Armara, and Gianna will arrive in May. He is further survived by his siblings: Judy (Manny) LaGrew, Kenneth (Ellen) Seal Jr., James (Tanya) Seal, and Jody Seal; many nieces and nephews; his best friend Kyle Maedke; special great-great niece Aisha, who he always called his "mini wife", his great-great nephew Sylis who he called his Charlie Brown, and friends Dee and Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Kenneth and Lucile Seal; one sister: Cindy Van; one sister-in-law: Connie Seal; and his niece: Michelle Smits.

Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and a celebration of Danny's life will take place at a later date.
