Obituary

Darlene M. Steffen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 1, 2024. She was born October 1, 1944, to LeRoy and Erma Hetue. On January 8, 1983, she married Warren Steffen (Sonny) and blew him a final kiss hours before she passed.

Darlene enjoyed spending time with her family playing games and cards (including sheepshead with her siblings), carrying on oral tradition through story and song, and was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. She was a lifelong learner and voracious reader, loved the water, getting 'kidnapped' for special outings, and enjoyed casino bus trips with her many friends. A controller/CMA by trade and an impressive left-brain thinker, Darlene also had a fun and silly side and was especially gregarious with the kids. She was pragmatic, loyal, fair, a warrior and an optimist. She will be remembered and loved by many.

Darlene is survived by her husband Warren; children Kim (Brian) Fuller, Kaitlyn (David G. Mann) Laurynz, Kellie (Chris Yanik) Mehre; grandchildren Ryan (Melinda) Kocourek, David Z. Mann, Aidyn Laurynz, Brett (Kayla Nelson) Kocourek, Christine Curtis, Amanda Curtis, Rebecca Curtis, and Austin Yanik; great-grandchildren Camron, Roger, Christion, Caston, and Joseph; siblings Gerlinde Huffman, Sandy Hetue, Gregg (Connie) Hetue, Laurie Adelman, Linda (Jim) Martin, and Renee (David) Milner; family friend and fellow sports fan Mike Mohr, and many nieces and nephews including Rhonda (Dan) Amann and Katie.

Darlene was preceded in death by her son Keith Curtis; parents LeRoy and Erma Hetue; siblings Douglas Hetue, Donald Hetue, Constance (Hetue) Murray, Michael Murray, Jerry Hetue, and Joseph Adelman.

Cremation has taken place at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel. Family will be holding a Celebration of Life at a later date.
