Obituary

David L. Sell, age 74, a resident of Valders, entered into eternal life on Friday, October 23, 2026 at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital.

Dave was born on March 27, 1952 in Memphis, TN to the late William and Mae (Timm) Sell. He graduated from Neenah High School with the class of 1971. On July 28, 1979, Dave married Kathleen M. Schultz at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church. While working 3rd shift for many years at Eck Industries, he also drove school bus in the mornings and afternoons for Brandt Buses for 30 years, and later for Valders School Bus for the past 3 years. Dave enjoyed the kiddos on the school bus so much that they got to watch movies, listen to music, and eat special treats. He liked spending his off time at Westward Ho Camp Resort for 26 years. Dave also had a love for music and movies – AKA “Music Man”. He also enjoyed making his father’s fish fry recipe for many family and friends every summer. Dave liked cruising around on his golf cart to say hi to his neighbors, playing golf, watching the Packers, Brewers, and every single episode of Gunsmoke (at least 3 times). He would hang up on you if you called at 10 a.m. when the Price Is Right was on. Dave will be dearly missed by his two boys, Teddy and Baylee. Above all, he enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include Dave’s wife of 47 years, Kathy; three daughters, Mellissa (Jeremy) Hansen, Michelle (Bradley) Behm and Nichole Mischler; five grandchildren, Madalynn, Xander, Elsa, Mariah, and Gavin; three great grandchildren, Saylor, Freya, and Willow; two brothers, Gerald Sell and Steve (Sally) Sell; sister, Jennifer (Dennis) Bauer; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mae Sell; sister, Judith Sell; and brother, William Sell Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. Rev. Stephen Melso and Rev. Caleb Davisson will officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. At 7 p.m., a time of shared stories and memories will be held to conclude the visitation. The visitation will continue on Friday, October 30, 2026 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com

Dave’s family would like to extend their thanks to the Froedtert Holy Family Memorial ICU staff of nurses and doctors for their compassionate care. Also, special thanks to Steve Roekle and Brandt Buses for 30 years of amazing friendship. Last but not least, special thanks to Scott and Nikki Zucchi of Valders Bus for the joy they brought Dave over the past 3 years.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
