It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of Dawn A. Mathiesen, Manitowoc resident, 60, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Dawn was born on July 26, 1963 in Waukesha to the late Norman and Mary Ann (Remaker) Mathiesen. She graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1981. Dawn also received two Associate Degrees in Administrative Professional and Accounting from Lakeshore Technical College. She worked at various businesses from industrial sewing to customer care, most recently with Kohler Company. Dawn enjoyed spending her time crafting, and was also an accomplished quilter. She was proud to have crocheted over 300 baby hats, many baby blankets for nieces and nephews, along with many quilts and Christmas gifts for family.
Survivors include Dawn's three sisters, Diane (Brian) Barbarossa, Debbie (Brian) Cavanaugh, and Darlene Thor, all of Manitowoc area; nieces and nephews to include: Michelle (Rick) Prewett, Amy (Mike) Millhouse, Michael Mathiesen, Ashley (Clint) Pfund, Amber (Matt) Kornely, Nathan Thor and his fiancée, Melanie; many great nephews and nieces, also other relatives and friends. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Mary Ann Mathiesen; and two brothers, Richard and Ronald Mathiesen.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Following the memorial service, a dinner for relatives and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 5 p.m. Deacon John Vincent will officiate with burial of both Dawn and her brother Dick's cremated remains at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Dawn's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staffs of Sharon S. Richardson Hospice and Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center for all of the care and compassion they provided. Also, further thanks to Monica, and especially Donna (Dawn's best bud) for the friendship they shared.
