Obituary

Dennis M. Kope, age 66, a resident of Manitowoc, left this Earth to be with his Savior, Friday, April 2, 2021 at his home.

He was born September 27, 1954 in Manitowoc, the son of the late Donald and Marilyn (Sharpe), Kope, Sr.  Dennis attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1973.  On September 15, 1973, he married the former Yvonne Helke at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church.  Dennis proudly served in the United States Army for 11 ½ years.   Following his military service, he worked for Lakeside Foods and Krueger International.  He served as the Lecturing Knight for Elks Lodge #687 and volunteered many hours as an afternoon bartender there.   In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, crocheting, quilting, cooking, baking, and spending time with his family.

Dennis is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Yvonne; two children, Jason (Crissy) Kope, Fond du Lac and Lea (Cory) DeBauch, Manitowoc; nine grandchildren, Victor DeBauch, Sapphire Kope, Mariah DeBauch, Eli DeBauch, Angel DeBauch, Micah Kope, Isaac Kope and Caleb Kope; one great-grandchild, Aluna Kope; two brothers, Donnie Kope, Jr. and twin brother, David (Jean) Kope; a sister, Mary Ellen (Bob) Jankowski; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Jeanne) Helke, Mike (Rosey) Helke, and Rick (Lori) Helke; sisters-in-law, Judy Helke, Judy Krueger, and Kathy Lalko; nieces, nephews, a special Godchild, Dana Kope, and a special friend, Christine Fogle.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Marilyn Kope, Sr.; a sister, Brenda Kope; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clifford and Leona (Dehne) Helke; three brothers-in-law, Lynn Helke, Jerry Krueger, and Tom Lalko; and a sister-in-law, Maureen Helke.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, 3524 County Rd. C. in the Town of Newton with the Reverend Kyle A. Sorenson officiating.  Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 A.M. until the time of services at 11 A.M.  Military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 731 at the church after the funeral service.  A luncheon will be held for family and friends at the church following military honors.  Cremation will take place after all services are completed.
