Dennis M. Van, age 72, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 24, 1950 in Marinette, Wisconsin, son of the late Alphia and Ersel (Olson) Van. Dennis worked in road construction for most of his life, and then was employed with Foley Company for five years until his retirement. He volunteered his time with Habitat for Humanity, Peters Pantry, and the Salvation Army. Dennis enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and small game hunting. He also loved cruising in his 1972 Monte Carlo, especially to car shows. He enjoyed cooking and baking, and especially loved his two dogs: Fancy Free and Brindle Lea. Dennis also liked spending time at the Golden Flame every day with his coffee clutch friends.
Survivors include his significant other Cheryl Hildebrandt; two daughters: Tracy (Michael) Cox and Tammy Van (Kyle Maedke); son-in-law: Joe Gonion; grandchildren: Stephanie, Dennis, Brittany, Cheyenne, Cody, Ariel, Michaela (Brendt), Miranda, James, Jonathan, Gabby, Dominick, Dustin, Jacob, and Mariska; 13 great-grandchildren; three siblings: Harold, Joan, and Carole (Ken) Kouba; a special niece: Tina Van-Winks; and his best friend: Albert (Kathy) Denk. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and private family services will be held at a later date.
