Donald L. Doan, age 56, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Don was born March 3, 1959 in Germany. He was the son of the late Calvin and Fredia Bucher Doan. He graduated from high school in San Antonio, Texas. He entered the United States Army in Massachusetts and was honorably discharged after two years of service to his country. Don owned and operated D.L. Doan Carpet Installation and Remodeling in Manitowoc for many years. For the past four years Don was employed at Natural Ovens Bakery. On December 31, 1990 he married Trudy Garrigan in Oakwood, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years: Trudy; one daughter: Storm Pellow, Two Rivers; one son: Damian, Texas; five grandchildren: Dezerray, Gavin, Peyton, Cullen, and Nikolai due in March 2016; his stepmother: Mija Doan, Delaware; brothers and sisters: Richard Doan, Texas; Steven (Erica) Doan, Arkansas; Diane (Jeff) Creighton, Illinois; Marguerita (Steve) Truskosky, Illinois; Mary Doan, Maryland; mother-in-law: Barbara Luebke, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law: Jimmie Garrigan.
A Life Celebration Social will be held for relatives and friends on Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. led by Deacon Al Boeldt immediately followed with military honors by the Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter #731. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
