Donald
Miller
May 20, 1936 – October 3, 2024
Donald Miller, age 88, a Grand Island, Florida resident, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Tavares Hospice House, Tavares, Florida.
He was born on May 20, 1936 in East Orange, New Jersey, son of the late Glen and Isabel (Stambolian) Miller.
Survivors include his three children: Bob Miller (Sandra Faircloth), Glenn Miller, and Tara (Timothy) Wilson; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son: Donald Miller; and his parents: Glen and Isabel Miller.
He lived a lifespan of 88 years, and in those years, he touched more hearts and spread more smiles than one could ever count.
In his professional life, Donald achieved remarkable success as an executive manager in the hotel business, a field in which he left an indelible mark across the United States. His career was not just about climbing corporate ladders; it was about bringing warmth and sincerity to every venture he undertook. He had a remarkable ability to see potential in people, to nurture it, and to inspire teams to achieve great things. Those who worked with him not only saw a leader but a mentor whose influence has shaped careers and lives long after they parted ways.
Beyond his professional achievements, Donald was a beloved family man. He took immense joy in watching his sons and daughter grow, sharing stories and adventures on various escapades, including memorable times on their beloved boat. For Donald, nothing compared to the pride he felt as he watched his grandchildren excel in every imaginable pursuit. His infectious smile and relentless positivity were ever-present, wrapping us all in a comforting embrace that promised everything would be alright.
Donald was not one to remain confined within his immediate surroundings. He possessed an adventurous spirit, always eager to travel and make new friends everywhere he went. His travels were marked by the connections he fostered, leaving a piece of his heart in every friendship he formed. His openness and warmth made a difference in many lives, and perhaps none more so than those of the 16 families he helped bring to the United States from war-torn Kosovo. His compassion and commitment to aiding these families through food, shelter, medical needs, schooling, and gaining citizenship underscored his generosity and kindness.
Above all, we will miss Donald's unwavering presence. He always had the best advice, for life skills and big decisions alike. He was the person we could rely on no matter the hour or the circumstance. His honesty and trustworthiness will forever serve as our moral compass. He was fair and loving, embodying the values that he lived by.
As we continue forward, let us remember Donald as a pillar of strength and generosity. His influence on many of our lives was profound and enduring. As we face our own troubled times, may we hold close his comforting words: "Never fear when Miller's near."
Thank you, Dad, for being a remarkable father, a guiding light, and a compassionate soul. Let us take solace in the knowledge that his legacy will live on in each of us. May he rest in peace, knowing he left the world a better place, filled with love and kindness.
