Donald P. Mueller Sr. “Doc”, age 78, a Manitowoc resident, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc.

He was born June 25, 1947 in Manitowoc, son of the late Carl and Geraldine (Klein) Mueller Sr. Don attended Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1966. On April 12, 1969 he married Sue Leist. Don was employed with Manitowoc Public Schools from 1974 until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, camping, hunting, fishing, playing volleyball, and playing cards. Don also was a member of the Manitowoc Kiwanis Golden K’s. He had a love of sports and coached wrestling, football, and baseball. He coached wrestling at Holy Innocents, Washington Jr. High, Manitowoc Youth, JFK Prep, and Roncalli and coached football at Holy Innocents and Roncalli. Above all, he loved his family, and especially enjoyed spending time and supporting his children and grandchildren.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 57 years: Sue Mueller; his four children: son: Michael Paul (Tiffini) Mueller, West Bend, WI, and their children: Derrick and Taylor; son: Donald Paul (Amy) Mueller Jr., Prosper, TX, and their children: Ethan and Evan; daughter: Pamela Ann (Troy) Hilton, North Prairie, WI, and their children: Mitchell and Jackson Donald, and son: Andrew Paul (Colette) Menomonee Falls, WI, and their children: Cullen and Cavan; his dog: Cooper; three sisters: Marianne (Randy) Krueger, Lorainne Clevenger, and Jean (Tim) Mueller Hinds; sister-in-law: Rosie Mueller; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Marilyn Placinski, Terry (Beth) Leist, Barb Evenson, Candy Jo (Bill) Trochil, Cindy Leist (significant other Dan), and Elizabeth McDermott. Cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Carl and Geraldine Mueller; siblings: Carl Paul Mueller Jr. “Butch” and Kay Mueller; brother-in-law: Carl Clevenger; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Richard and Shirley Leist; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Debra (Michael) Sweeten, Scott Leist, and Gene Placinski; as well as other relatives and friends.

Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a celebration of Don’s life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
