Donald E. Raether, 72, of rural Manitowoc, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, February 11, 2023, at his home farm.

Donald was born on October 28, 1950, in Manitowoc, son of the late Elmer and Adeline Wilde Raether.  He grew up on the family farm located in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids and attended St. John's Ev. Lutheran School, Newtonburg.  Donald graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1972.  On February 25, 1987, Donald married Patricia Kuehn at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Newtonburg.  He worked on the family dairy farm all of his life, taking over the operation in 1995 after his father's passing.

Survivors include Donald's wife, Patricia Kuehn; brother, Gerald Raether, currently at the Manitowoc Health Care Center; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and John Mahloch, Manitowoc; also nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Donnie was a hard-working, caring and kind person.  Farming was his life's work.  He and his wife, Pat, enjoyed working, planting and harvesting the crops, and taking care of the farm animals.  When he could, Donnie went with Dr. Pat on her veterinary calls so that he could assist her.  He always enjoyed joking with family, friends, and people that he met.  Donnie will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
