Obituary

Dorothy A. Deering, age 94, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life while surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at her residence.

Dorothy was born on January 17, 1924 in Two Rivers to the late Joseph and Josephine Sousek Sidoty.  She graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers with the class of 1942.  On January 18, 1947, Dorothy married Arthur Deering at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Two Rivers.  He preceded her in death on March 22, 1981.  Dorothy had been employed at Eggers Industries, Mirro Corporation, and mostly at the Herald Times Reporter as a proofreader.  She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, drinking coffee, and loved her cats – even the one she took from her grandson, John.  Dorothy was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Manitowoc.

Survivors include Dorothy's three children, Cheryl Riemer, Manitowoc; John (Kris) Deering, Birchwood; and Sandra (Tom) Hale, Reedsburg; 10 grandchildren, Dennis, Lisa, Rebecca, Jessica, Matt, Sarah, Katie, Michelle, Tim, and Mary; 12 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren; also other relatives and friends.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; brother, Bobby; sister, Rose; grandson, Russell; and great great granddaughter, Audrianna.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.  Rev. Dave Pleier will officiate with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com

Due to Dorothy's cats, the family requests memorials in lieu of flowers.

Dorothy's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Aurora At Home Hospice, Atrium Post Acute Care of Two Rivers for all of the care and compassion they provided.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11 th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
