Obituary

Dorothy T. Upton, age 90, a resident of St. Mary's Home at Felician Village, Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at St. Mary's Home.

Dorothy was born October 28, 1923 in Phlox, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late Emil and Vida (Lane) Artz. She attended Matoon High School and graduated with the class of 1940. She served her country with the United States Navy from 1940 to 1945. After her honorable discharged she continued her education at the Antigo Vocational School. Dorothy was a secretary at the Antigo Memorial Hospital for twenty years. On October 19, 1948 she married Myron C. Upton in Antigo, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death in 1975. While residing in Antigo Dorothy was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Christian Mother of the church. She was currently a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Dorothy was a member of a polka band where she enjoyed playing the piano, she also enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family. Thanks to her grandsons Green Bay Packer parties, Dorothy learned to love watching football.

She is survived by her five daughters: Kay (Conrad) Althen, Portland, OR; Judy (Al) Stryzewski, Whitelaw, WI; Mary (Dennis) Gintner, Manitowoc, WI; Carol (Jim) Williams, Wausau, WI; Sandy (Patrick) Wondrash, Francis Creek, WI; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two brothers: Don (Eileen) Artz, Rothchild, WI; Leonard "Bud" (Audrey) Artz, Appleton, WI; two sisters: Pat (Jim) Hersant, Green Bay, WI; Diane (Bruce) Hoffman, Antigo, WI; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Emil and Vida Artz; her husband: Myron; one son: Donald who was five days old.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marhsall, 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier. Burial will take place on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo, Wisconsin. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Marshall on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Following the funeral service military rite will be accorded at the church by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto Oas Post #659. A luncheon will be held for family and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
