Douglas J. Mrotek, a Manitowoc resident, entered peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, December 14th, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife, Susan and devoted son, Justin. He was born in Manitowoc, to the late Arthur and Cora (Lorenz) Mrotek.
He attended high school at JFK Prep in St. Nazianz, WI. He graduated from Dominican College in Racine, WI with a degree in Communication Arts. Doug had a long and illustrious career at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family, in various roles, including Vice President. He believed in educational opportunities for all, including first generation college students, such as himself. He was a true servant leader. Later, he enjoyed his position in Guest Relations with the Green Bay Packers.
Douglas married Susan Quinn at St. Mary Church in East Chicago, Indiana, and they lived happily ever after.
He was a dedicated Boy Scout, earning the honor of Eagle Scout. He was a member and past President of the Serra Club of Manitowoc County. Doug loved spending time in nature, attending live theatre, listening to music, watching sports and movies, and socializing with friends and family. Doug was a brave and kind-hearted gentleman. Above all, he was a loving, devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Quinn-Mrotek, and son, Justin Mrotek, of Manitowoc, WI; sister, Sue Ann Romero, of Manitowoc, WI; two sisters-in-law: Margaret (Tom) Norris of Fort Wayne, IN; Denise Quinn of Highland, IN; two brothers-in-law: Gerald (Joanna) Quinn of Northbrook, IL; Martin F. (Luda) Quinn of Mesa, AZ; nieces, nephews, an aunt, cousins and friends. Doug was preceded in death by parents Arthur and Cora Mrotek; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Martin E. and Vita Quinn; and brother-in-law Timothy Quinn.
Memorial services will be held at Noon on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 North Water Street, Manitowoc. Following the memorial service, a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at Noon.
