(Lutze) Kluenker
October 23, 1918 – April 1, 2018
Edna A. (Lutze) Kluenker, 99, joined her Savior in Heaven on Easter morning, April 1, 2018 from River Woods Place, Manitowoc.
Edna and her twin, Erna, were born on October 23, 1918 on the family farm in the Town of Greenbush, Sheboygan County to the late Robert and Bertha (Iserloth) Wittkopp. They were baptized and confirmed at St John's Lutheran Church, Plymouth. They attended the Victor School and St John's Lutheran School, Plymouth, and graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1936. Edna was married on May 26, 1945 to Melvin Lutze at St John's Lutheran, Plymouth. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1975. Edna and Melvin had two children: Meribeth (Lutze) Hauenstein, of Las Cruces New Mexico and Steven Lutze, Plymouth. There are 6 grandchildren from this union: Jean White, Joel Hauenstein, Mitchell (Laurie) Lutze, Adam (Robin) Lutze, Justin Lutze, and Graham Lutze; and six great-grandchildren. Melvin and Edna operated the family farm at Schwartzwald, Town of Herman, until his death in 1975 when she moved to Sheboygan. She also worked at Lakeland College for several years.
On July 29, 1978, Edna married George Kluenker at St John's United Church of Christ in the Town of Herman (Schwartzwald). He preceded her in death on December 2, 2015. From that marriage, she gained two daughters: Shirley (Robert) Brooks and Judy (John) Casper; four grandsons: Robert, John (Jody), Brian Brooks, and Lucas (Lindsey) Behnke; and seven great grandchildren. Edna and George lived in Manitowoc since 1988. She is a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was an active member of the Howards Grove Senior Center.
Edna is survived by her children, grandchildren, and, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her twin: Erna (Norbert) Koppelman; her brother: Aaron (Adeline) Wittkopp; son-in-law: David Brunner; and an infant sister: Zelda Wittkopp.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. Rev. Stephen Melso and Rev. Robert Kujawski will officiate with burial to take place at St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery in the Town of Herman. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Edna's name to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran School, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc.
