February 8, 1934 – November 9, 2024
Edward C. Schroeder passed away unexpectedly on November 9, 2024, at age 90. Edward was born to Gertrude (Toebe) and Herbert Schroeder on February 8, 1934, in Manitowoc. He graduated from Lincoln High School and then served in the US Army. He went on to marry Shirley Bednarz in 1966 in Marinette. He also attended Lakeshore Technical College. Ed retired from Hamilton Fisher after 47 years of service. He was a member of the Manitowoc Bowling Association, Manitowoc Gun Club, Manitowoc County Softball Association, and HFM Wellness Center. Ed enjoyed woodworking and was a master craftsman. He also loved flower growing, and all outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and golf. He had a real passion for cars, music, and travel. Most of all, Ed loved spending time with his family.
Ed is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley; children Lynn (Doug) Brennan and Scott (Michelle Kahl) Schroeder; grandchildren Tyler (Hannah) Brennan, Cole (Samantha DeRidder) Brennan, Kelly (Patrick) Masimore, Chandler (Katie Timp) Brennan, Ally (Yianni Papagiannopoulos), and Aiden Brennan; great-grandson Torin Masimore; sister Joanne Kasten; sister-in-law Diane (Elton) Steinbrecker; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Gertrude and Herbert Schroeder; brothers John (Betty) Schroeder, Robert (Jeannie) Schroeder, and Donald Schroeder; brother-in-law Everett Kasten; and sisters-in-law Janet (Clyde) Lock and Barbara (David) Seese.
Cremation has occurred at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel. Relatives and friends may greet the family at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Service at 12:00 noon. A luncheon will follow at Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, located on the south property of the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ed's name are appreciated to Lakeshore Humane Society.
