Obituary

Edward M. Stevens, age 88, a resident of The Felician Village in Manitowoc, and formerly of Whitefish Bay and Greendale, died on June 3, 2012.

Ed was born on March 9, 1924 in Milwaukee to the late Joseph and Josephine Waga Szedziewski. During World War II, he served as an officer in the United States Army Air Corps setting up radio stations for American troops advancing in the Pacific Theater. He graduated from Marquette University in 1948. On June 5, 1948, Ed married Ruth Hahn in Milwaukee. A Certified Public Accountant, Ed worked in various industries until he retired as vice president and general manager of KCS Industries – a Banta subsidiary. He was civically active in the greater Milwaukee area.

Survivors include Ed's beloved wife of 64 years: Ruth; three children: Michael (Therese) Stevens, Fitchburg; Linda (Richard) Nikolai, Appleton; and Karen (Rick) Ripple, Menomonee Falls; seven grandchildren: Elisabeth (Scott) Vasko, Pittsburgh, PA; Martha Stevens, Denver, CO; Emily Stevens, Paris, France; Pamela Nikolai, Marshfield; Tracy (Todd) Nemecek, Neenah; Julie Ripple, New Berlin; and Lori Ripple, Menomonee Falls; one great granddaughter: Elise Vasko, Pittsburgh, PA; one sister: Jeanette Tuszynski, Milwaukee; one brother: Leonard Stevens, Hamburg, NY; and two sisters-in-law: Alvina Kavanagh, Milwaukee, and Justine Stevens, Whispering Pines, NC. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ray Szedziewski and Gene Stevens; and one sister: Bernice Mullen.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Blessed Angela Chapel at St. Mary's Home at Felician Village, 1635 South 21st Street, Manitowoc from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at noon. The Mass will be concelebrated by Rev. Thomas Wojciechowski and Rev. Gerald Foley with interment to follow at St. Adalbert Mausoleum in Milwaukee. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home & Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
