Elaine Barbara (Simonson) Skaletz, age 74, formerly of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in Lake Ozark, MO.
Elaine was born in Michigan to the late Helmer and Betty (DiPasquale) Simonson. She was a loving wife, devoted to her husband and her church, serving as a Eucharistic minister and doing charity work for American Cancer Society. Elaine touched thousands with her smile and deeds. She loved the outdoors – her passion was gardening and she was a Master Gardner awarded with prizes. Elaine and her husband enjoyed downhill skiing, and the mountains could not be high enough.
Elaine is survived by her devoted husband, Gunther; two sisters, Judy (Hank) Rukowski and Gail Patyk; also other relatives and innumerable friends. She was preceded in death by her two children that were 6 and 7 years old, Todd and Gina Capelli.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi at Waldo – 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier with interment of Elaine's cremated remains to take place at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial scholarship is established in Elaine's and her two children.
