Emil Krcma, age 94, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center in Manitowoc where he resided since June 20, 2014.
Emil was born April 18, 1920 in Manitowoc, WI. He was the son of the late Charles and Emily Stangel Krcma. Emil graduated from Mishicot High School with the class of 1937. He served with the United States Navy being stationed at Glenview Naval Air Station with the carrier qualification training unit. Emil then served on the U.S.S. Enterprise Carrier in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. After his honorable discharge he returned home. On June 23, 1945 he married Lorraine A. Keller in Chicago, IL. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2012. For 24 years Emil was employed with George Clark Transit Company as a heavy truck mechanic from where he retired in 1984. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. Emil was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto Oas Post #659, Golden Kiwanis Club, Teamster Local Union 76, and Meadow Links Golf Association. He loved to work in his garden and was an avid golfer, wood worker, and candy maker. Emil enjoyed sending his candy to family and friends all over the United States.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Gregory and Sandra Krcma, Manitowoc, WI; Douglas and Janice Krcma, Denham Springs, LA; one daughter and son-in-law: Gail and Leon Fogeltanz, Manitowoc, WI; seven grandchildren: Tamara Krcma, Jason (Melissa) Krcma, Emily (Daniel) Fletcher, Wesley (Brittany) Krcma, Ian Fogeltanz, Blair Fogeltanz, and Logan Fogeltanz; three great granddaughters: Addison Fletcher, Camille Krcma, and Harper Krcma; one great grandson: Aiden Fletcher; two brothers: Gilbert (Carol) Krcma, Manitowoc, WI; Danny Krcma, Manitowoc, WI; three sisters: Lorraine (Donald) Kochan, Manitowoc, WI; Margie Luckow, Manitowoc, WI; Kathy (Frank) Zeman, Mishicot, WI; three sisters-in-law: Kay Krcma, Rockford, IL; Clara Krcma, rural Denmark, WI; Geraldine Gibbons, Arlington Heights, IL; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. Emil was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Emily Krcma; wife: Lorraine; five brothers: Francis, Eugene, Joseph, Charles, and Paul Krcma; two sisters: Adeline Sander and Leona Zipperer.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier. Entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Following the funeral services, military rites will be accorded at the church by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto Oas Post #659. There will be a luncheon held for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home after the conclusion of the military honors.
