Eugene W. Beer, age 75, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.
Eugene was born on September 24, 1940 in Monroe, WI to the late Werner and Dorothy Schlaf Beer. He graduated from Milledgeville High School in Milledgeville, IL with the class of 1956. Eugene had been employed with General Motors in Janesville for 35 years until his retirement in 1995. On June 10, 1984, Eugene married Kathy Bockhaus at First Lutheran Church in Janesville. He enjoyed any kind of sports, especially football. Eugene also enjoyed stock car races, reading, working with the family pets, being outdoors, and cross-country skiing. He was very active in assisting his wife Kathy with the Free Roaming Feline Program. Eugene was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Mishicot.
Survivors include Eugene's wife: Kathy; three children: Molly (Chuck) Busse, Beloit; Brad (Heidi) Beer, Janesville; and Amelia Chronis, Appleton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers: Robert (Nydia) Beer, Sterling, IL; and Truman (Phyllis) Beer, Wasilla, AK; sister: Marilyn (Tom) Daly, Argyle; his favorite cat: Grumpy; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. Pastor Robert Johannes will officiate with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Following the funeral service, a reception for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
