Obituary

Eunice G. Lantow, earth life 1934 to 2018. Sing to the Lord………..Alleluia.

On Saturday morning, March 24, 2018 Eunice ended her life on earth happily with hope of entering the gate to Life Everlasting.

On May 2, 1934, Eunice Grace was born to Charles and Laura Loritz Lantow. in Manitowoc. She was baptized in the Catholic faith by Rev. Edward Radey, Pastor of Holy Innocents Parish. While in High School, she was confirmed by Stanislaus V. Bone, Bishop of Green Bay Dioceses. Raised as an only child, she was blessed with gifts of love, acceptance, and friendships. From her parents, even as a child, she was taught and learned the joy of sharing and giving to those less fortunate. She willingly gave clothing, food, toys, and anything to fill the needs of others. Throughout her life time Eunice never lost this gift of giving. Full of life and energy, Eunice was always very active in various activities and organizations as a child and throughout her adult life.   She attended first through eighth grades at Holy Innocents Catholic Grade School taught by the Franciscan Sisters from Holy Family Convent. She was very active in all sports and usually excelling in whatever she did. Eunice also loved music and played in the school band, both piano and later piano accordion. She sang in the school choir and continued as an adult in the Holy Innocents Mixed Choir for 40 years. Eunice was very active with the Girl Scout Program from being a Brownie, Junior, Cadette, and Senior in Advanced Scouting in both Wisconsin and Michigan. She was both a camper and councilor for many years. From the ninth grade, Eunice attended Woodrow Wilson Junior High School where she was a cheerleader and participated in many sport and choir. She then went on to Lincoln High School graduating with the class of 1952 and was also an active person in her community at that time. Eunice then continued her education at Marquette University in Milwaukee, receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1956. She then went on to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and received her Masters of Science Degree in Social Work in 1959. Eunice continued to work as a Professional Licensed Social Worker for the following 55 years, retiring in 2013. As a social worker Eunice worked in Wisconsin, Maryland, and Illinois.

While in Manitowoc, Eunice was a member professionally following graduate school. From 1959-1960 Executive Director for the Neenah-Menasha Branch Office of the Green Bay Diocese Aportalate Social Services, then moved to Baltimore, MD and was supervisor for several years for Associate Catholic Charities. She then moved to Chicago, IL and was the Supervisor for the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. After the death of her father, Eunice moved back home to become Director of Social Services Department at St. Mary's Home under the administration of Sister Mary Claude, Felician Order. Eunice completed her professional work as coordinator of Group Homes for Holiday House simultaneously while working at Holiday House and working full time for 10 years as a Hospice Social Worker for Home Health Care and Hospice. Eunice then retired on October 31, 2013. Eunice was a member of the Christian Women of Holy Innocents and served as its President, member of St. Clare Society, member and officer of the Daughters of Isabella Society. Eunice along with her parents were members of the United Commercial Travelers and served several years as Auxiliary Counselor. In 1957 Eunice was elected as the Grand Counselor for the State of Wisconsin UCT Auxiliary. She was a member, volunteer, and board member for many years for The Lakeshore Humane Society. Eunice was a singing member and board member for the Christian Community Singers. She was a Eucharistic Minister for Holy Innocents, now St. Francis of Assisi Parish on Waldo for many years. Eunice was a Care Minister and Coordinator for Holy Innocents Catholic Church for over 20 years. She was a devoted donor of Masquers Inc. for over 40 years. Eunice loved life, people, and most of all her faith. She loved to read, follow sports, and animals.

She is survived by her four cousins: Robert (Patricia) Loritz, Manitowoc, and their five children and families, Brenda, Renee, Janine, Denise, and Michele; Robert Lantow and family, Peshtigo; David Lantow and family, Appleton; Richard "Ricky" Lantow and family Peshtigo; special family members: Kelly and Tim Spiering of Manitowoc and their two sons, William and Riley; other relatives to include Kim and Kay Siudzinski along with many precious friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, paternal and maternal grandparents, many aunts and uncles, and one cousin, Doris Mae (Ray) Suidzinski.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo, 1121 North 14 th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier and Rev. Gerald Foley. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Following the service at church there will be a luncheon for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
