Florian "Flory" Joseph Jankowski, age 97, a resident at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center since late October, formerly of 1027 South 25th Street, Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.

Florian was born on October 11, 1916 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Cichantek Jankowski. He attended St. Mary's Catholic grade school and also Lincoln High School graduating with the class of 1936. Florian was employed as an electrician for Manitowoc Shipbuilding and Manitowoc Engineering for 45 years retiring in 1981. On April 18, 1942 he married Evelyn V. Sobieski at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Florian was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He also was a member of the electricians union, IBEW Local 158, Green Bay, WI. Florian served two terms as financial secretary of the IBEW Local 751 of Manitowoc. He was the secretary of the MSI-MEC bowling league, an active member of the Golden Kiwanis Club in Manitowoc, and also was a member of the RoundUps square-dance club for 20 years. Florian enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years: Evelyn; one son: James, Belle Glade, FL; one daughter: Ellen Jankowski, Milwaukee, WI; five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one sister: Delores Banaszak, Milwaukee, WI; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Josephine Jankowski; one brother: Eugene Jankowski and his wife Elaine Jankowski; one brother-in-law: Wenceslaus (Pat) Banaszak, Milwaukee, WI

Funeral services will be held 12:00 o'clock noon, Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Dave Beaudry with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 o'clock noon. Following the funeral services there will be a luncheon for family and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
