Obituary

Gail Carviou (a.k.a. Gaily Foo Foo), age 69, of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, surrounded by love.

Born on January 27, 1956, in Marinette, Wisconsin, to the late Donald and Tina (Francour) Carviou, Gail grew up with a passion for life, laughter, and sports—especially her beloved Packers, Brewers, and Bucks. She graduated from Mishicot High School in 1974 with dreams of becoming a physical education teacher. A gifted athlete, Gail excelled in multiple sports in her youth, most especially softball—a game she played with fierce joy and team spirit throughout her life.

That same summer of '74, Gail began working at Hamiltons, where she would spend her entire career. She took pride in her role as both a team lead and union representative and formed lifelong friendships with coworkers who became like family.

Gail shared 20 loving years with Rosie Rocque, and they remained an important part of each other's lives. In 2010, with the help of her niece Kate, Gail found the love of her life. She met Paula James at a Starbucks in Manitowoc in July 2010—and that first coffee led to a lifetime of love. One year later, Gail proposed in Las Vegas, and the two were married on December 22, 2012.

Gail is survived by her devoted spouse, Paula James; three brothers, Dale (Doreen), Tom (Nancy), and Raymond (Theresa); two sisters, Candy (Glenn) and Tracy (Cheryl); mother-in-law, Pauline O'Hara; two brothers-in-law, Steven (Janet), and Andrew; also many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was especially enchanted by the newest member of the family—her great-great-niece, Chase. She is preceded in death by her sister, Joy.

To know Gail was to be loved by her. She had the rare gift of making every single person feel like a friend. Gail lit up every room with her smile, her quick wit, and her bottomless heart. She was the sparkle in life—an angel on Earth who embraced everyone exactly as they were.
