Gail M. Mellinger

Gail M. Mellinger passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 4, 2026, at age 73. Gail was born on July 31, 1953, in Sheboygan to her parents LeRoy and Irma Arnoldi. She graduated in 1971 from Sheboygan Falls High School and then attended Holy Family Nursing School where she attained her Registered Nurse certification. Gail later completed her Bachelors in Nursing at UW-Green Bay. In 1973, she married Steve Nelson and he preceded her in death in 1989. Together they raised two children: Aaron and Angie. Gail married Mark Mellinger on May 15, 1993, in the living room of their new home in rural Valders. She was a Registered Nurse for 46 years and retired from Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers as a RN Case Manager in 2020. Gail enjoyed flower gardening; but most of all loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

Gail is survived by her husband Mark; children Aaron (Mickey) Nelson and Angie (Dan) Morrelle; grandchildren Kylee and Karis Nelson, Brandon (Raychel) Fierst, and Emma Morrelle; sister Carol Bell; brothers-in-law Jack (Sharon) Mellinger, Bob (Mary) Mellinger, and Gerald “Cookie” (Janine) Mellinger; sister-in-law Dawn (Jim) Steckmesser; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, brother Ron Arnoldi, brother-in-law Steve Bell, and Mark’s parents John and Margaret Mellinger.

A Celebration of Gail’s Life will be held at a later date. Please check back for details.

Gail’s family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Kristen Jones and Kristi Pennenberg APRN, and the wonderful staff of ICU 3 of Aurora BayCare Medical Center for taking exceptional care of her.
