Dr. Gary J. Francar, age 72, a rural Mishicot resident, died Saturday, January 12, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born on September 13, 1946 in Manitowoc, son of the late Hector and Lee (Freed) Francar. Gary was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School and then attended University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where he earned his Bachelors Degree. He then attended Scholl School of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. Gary returned to Manitowoc in 1978 and joined his mother and father at their Podiatric practice. In March of 1980, Gary married Sherrie Richards in Manitowoc. Gary had three passions in life: family, friends and his patients. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed being with his dogs and hunting. Gary especially loved going out to eat with his children.
Survivors include his wife: Sherrie Francar, Manitowoc; one son: Joseff Francar (girlfriend: Jamey Beyer), Suamico; one daughter: Samantha Rose (Robert) Bailey, Madison; brothers and sister: Gene (Barbara) Francar, Miami, FL, Sandra (Bruce) Barnes, Richfield, MN, Dale Francar, Denmark, WI; a sister-in-law: Kathleen Walsh, Manitowoc; family friend, Gary's office Manager: Annette LaFleur. Gary was beloved by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends whom he cherished and loved spending his time with. He was preceded in death by his parents: Hector and Leota Francar; one brother: Michael 'Mickey' Francar; and a sister-in-law: Elizabeth 'Beth' Francar.
A Life Celebration Social for relatives and friends will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Gary's family would like to thank his many patients throughout all the years of his practice. Sharing stories and listening to theirs were a passion for Gary. Many of you had become good friends over the years.
